It's supposed to make that sound I think. Mine does anyway. As long as it isn't scraping the acrylic tube you're alright. I wound up adding to the brass section inside to tighten up the tolerances so when it closes the neck sections line up better.
I'd take it apart and check if I were you. I know it's intimidating. I mean you spend a lot on one of those. Only reaon I haven't bought another is because I'm buying several Freddy gloves from HorrorFX and they go for $100 a pop. XD Can't help it though, oh and I'm in on the McCoy sweater vest run too. XD Another hundred there.
No ,i don't think it is. I took mine completely down to it's parts and even sanded stuff to get it moving smoothly. XD Really, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think CT actually tightened the tolerances on that model anyway. In his videos there's a smooth scrapie sound too.
He got back to me telling me that Vaselin in the body tube would do the trick, so I took it all apart and applied a touch of vaseline in various places and it extends with little force. while still maintaining the metal on metal sliding noise, and the clacking when I handle it. Which I love by the way The sound before was horrible but it's all good now.
